Most of those cents are worth face value. If you want to know which are the good ones, go to the library and check out the Red Book for US coins. Or... just go to the coin section of ebay, work your way to the US cents and look for the years which you're interested in. Don't forget to check the mint mark - directly under the date, except for Philadelphia. No mint mark (on modern pennies) designates the Phily mint.

Worth less now than when it was minted. You could buy a gumball from a machine, back then, for a penny. Now it ranges from 10-25 cents.
