    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

Jockeys are paid a fee for each race and earn a percentage of the prize if they win. According to Animal Planet, jockeys make around $30,000 a year on average, with an extensive range of $17,000 to $250,000. Celebrity jockeys can earn even more: Jerry Bailey earned $1.63 million in one year, for instance.
