    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

Javanese, one of 719 active languages in Indonesia, was imported to the Dutch colonies of northern South America by migrant Java workers at the beginning of the 20th century. Approximately 60,000 ethnic Javanese still speak this language in Suriname, with a negligible amount of speakers in French Guiana.
