What things do I need to consider before purchasing a homeowner's insurance policy? Where can I find out if the company is reputable?

    First, you should never be without homeowners or renters insurance. when you least expect the unexpected, the unexpected will occur.

    Consider where you live, what you have, and the total worth. this applies to your personal property, inside your home. next, the replacement value of your home, in case of fire or tornado or any other act of god. also, include a living expense, in case your home is not habitable. deductibles can play a major part in the total premium cost.

    To locate a reputable insurance company, its best just ask your friends the company they have and what their experiences have been. some pay claims better and faster than others. just check it out.
