Go to a folder that contains junk mail in Thunderbird. Click the header of a message you would like to remove from the spam list. A flame-like icon should appear in the message header and at the top of the message. Click the "Not Junk" button on the top right side of the message in the message pane. You can also right-click the message header, choose "Mark" in the context menu, and then choose "As Not Junk." Go to the "Tools" drop-down menu and select "Run Junk Mail Controls on This Folder" to mark similar messages as non-spam. You may need to repeat these steps several times before Thunderbird can distinguish spam from legitimate messages correctly.
Click the "Tools" drop-down menu and select "Message Filters." Click "New" to create a new filter. Set your parameters for the new filter. For example, if you want to remove a specific email address from the spam list, choose the "From" option, select "Contains" and type in the email address in the right-most field. Under "Perform These Actions," select "Set Junk Status to" and set it to "Not Junk." Click "OK." Select the Inbox. Click the "Tools" menu and select "Run Filters on Folder." The filter will clear the email you specified if it is properly set up.
