  • 3,000 miles is an extremely conservative oil change schedule which does little to help your car, and a lot to help the profits of oil change outfits. I don't know that it was ever "normal", unless it was a long time and a lot of engine and oil technology ago. Assuming you're driving on normal roads under normal conditions, Kia's recommendation is fine. Remember, they're on the hook for that 100,000 mile warranty, and they're not going to take unnecessary chances. Now I think maybe to protect that warranty, I might make sure never to go a mile over 7,500 between changes. You don't have to take it to Kia, just keep the paperwork that documents that you had it done.
  • if kia says 7500,change it @ 3000-3500 and keep detailed records then there is no doubt if any warranty questions arise...
  • I have the same car and same year. The dealer offers free oil changes. That's fine if the dealership is close to where you live. When you have to travel for a half hour or more and then pay for the filter, I wonder if it's worth the trip. They suggest 3,000. I wonder about that also when the manual says 7500. I would suggest 3500 or 4000 depending on how much driving you do and the conditions of your area.
