Question

Help answer this question below.

I've had my 55 gallon freshwater tank for 6 months. It has been running smoothly until 2 weeks ago. Now the water is slightly cloudy. Why is this? Should I be "vacuuming" the debris off the bottom of the tank? If so, how?

yes it is time for a water change and a vaccuuming. I use one of those dealies that attach to your sink and you do all of it in one vaccuum, take out water and put water in all in o ne they are worth thier weight in gold. If it is only slightly cloudy I would do a 25% water change vaccuuming in the corners and sides under plants and decorations especially. If you see algae on the glass one of those of magnets are cheap and effective. Make sure you put your water conditioners in and check your water for nitrate nitites and ammonia. I reccommend stresszyme ad novaquel and or amquel. Watch your fish for signs of shock aferwards if this is the first time that you have cleaned a tank. would either find someone who knows what they are doing and invite them over for pizza or read a whole lot out here in cyberland. You will be alright. Be confident and observant and use a whole lot of common sense.
