Unfortunately, blowing yourself up seems to work.

what message in particular may I ask?

    - ok i saw your link below, i would contact as many radio stations as possible in the area, listing that website. What about a 'come and get swabbed' event. Invite as many people as possible to bring a friend to bring a friend, see if you can use a local park or something (contact your council) and get people to come and sin up to be swabbed. Have a BBQ or something, see if you can get a local shop to sponser you for some sausages and buns - it's not just about this one person, the more people that sign up, the more people have a chance of saviour. See if you could get some local bands to play etc etc. Then bring along sign up forms, or even better, see if someone can come along to do the swabbing - there and then.

It will take alot of organisation, but the publicity from it (call the papers/local newstations) and the number of people turning up for the event would make it worthwhile i'm sure.

Make your message newsworthy, send a PR release to your local news station and newspaper, and let them report on it, run with it...

I think it also depends entirely on what the content of the message is how best to spread it for the best results.
