As a RN mental health home care nurse, a patient called me who was suicidal. She asked me to come early for a scheduled appointment because she was scared. I was speeding to get there in time and was caught speeding. Help.

hi, I'm sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, unless you're in a work situation where you are riding on blues and twos I'd say you're out of luck. The courts might say that the correct way to proceed would have been to contact the emergency services and tell them you'll meet them there, allowing them to do the speeding. However, you never know, if you appeal and act contrite but point to your extenuating circumstances they may look upon you kindly, but I wouldn't make a habit of it.

You should have taken the cop with you just in case there was an emergency when you got there..plus he would not have given you a ticket under those circmstances.
