The fear of insanity.
Constant or obsessive fear of insanity. In most cases the person suffering from Agateophobia can trace this fear to a stressful event or to an initial panic attack or overwhelming emotional event. I have read that bad experiences with recreational drugs as a teenager or young adult is a common cause of this phobia. I have dealt with it for most of my adult life. Have taken many psychiatric drugs to varying degrees of effectiveness. In my experience exercise, especially yoga and running make this phobia more tolerable. I am also exploring invocations as a means of dealing with it. Emotions anonymous may help or talk-therapy, EMDR etc may also help.
Fear of Becoming Insane.
Due to the obvious "distress" an "insane" person is experienceing, some people see the "state of insainity" as a CONSTANT PANIC, Like a lifetime of being burried alive. This is a situation to be avoided.
