    AS FAR AS I CAN TELL HE STRUGGLED WITH DEPRESSION AND BOUTS OF INSANITY. IM SURE THIS PLAYED A MAJOR PART IN HIS ULTIMATE SUICIDE.

    Kohlberg contracted a tropical disease while conducting research into moral reasoning in children. This resulted in years of illness and pain. As a result of his illness, he suffered from bouts of depression. He obtained day-leave while being treated in Massachussets hospital, and drowned himself in Boston Harbour. (Jan, 1987).
