  • I would advised braiding not because it is stronger (I don't know which is stronger) but because twisting it could provide a twisting affect (torsion?) on other parts of the bridge especially when under extreme pressure which could possibly tear or break something else.
  • I suggest just twisting. With dental floss, whether you braid or simply twist will not make any difference at all in terms of performance. The twisting of the floss will not produce any torsion effects as suggested by qualhiveldorf (current cable stayed bridged use twisted cables). Also, braiding a dental floss will take a long long time--time that could be better spent improving other parts of the bridge. Finally, may I suggest using fishing line rather than dental floss. Fishing line is much stronger.
