Question

Help answer this question below.

My 2002 Kia Rio is running hot. I've checked the water level and it's fine. It cools off when I'm on the freeway, but in town the tempeture rises quickly. Could this be a problem with the fan sensor?

It could be simply a loose belt.
I would also check the thermostat, and replace or remove it. But that will mean less heat in the winter.
It's really a problem for your mechanic, not for us.

The problem is most likely the fan itself or the sensor. While on the highway, you have plenty of cool air coming in while driving but in town, you won't have as much air moving through the grill to cool off the radiator. Have the sensor checked first. It will probably need to be replaced. Hope that solves your problem.
