  • First of all, I will refer you to Doctrine and Covenants 137 (http://scriptures.lds.org/dc/137). This is a revelation that was received by Joseph Smith in which he saw the Celestial Kingdom. In this revelation we are told that those that accept the gospel in the spirit world get the same benefits as if they received it here in mortality. Specifically, it says that those that would have accepted it here had they had the opportunity will accept it there. That is an important distinction. If you have an opportunity to accept the gospel here and don't avail yourself of that opportunity, then it will be too late once you leave mortality. Just what constitutes an opportunity to accept the gospel is a bit more questionable. The only one who can really judge if one had an adequate opportunity is one who can see into the individual's heart and soul. This, it will be God that will make that judgment. The important thing is that if you have had the opportunity and you come to know that the gospel is true, then you better act on that knowledge. Don't procrastinate. Once you know the truth it is incumbent upon you to accept the ordinances. The longer you put this off, the more of which you will have to repent. If you put it off until you die, then you will not have accepted the gospel in this life despite knowing it was true and will, therefore not be eligible to accept it in the spirit world. So, don't use the possibility of accepting the gospel in the spirit world as an excuse not to accept it in this life. It doesn't work that way. ************************* wanabe, Precisely how the final judgement will be handled is not entirely clear to me. There are certain scriptures that indicate that various of the prophets and apostles of the past will have a roll in judging us, but just what that roll will be is not clearly explained. It is certain though that Jesus will be the ultimate judge. ************************* "Alatea: JS was a teenage sorcerer so how reliable is the info he gave?" How reliable are you when you don't even know what the Bible says? http://www.answerbag.com/a_view.php/13222 http://www.answerbag.com/a_view.php/13019 Also, if you ask me, your accusations put Joseph Smith in some pretty good company. http://scriptures.lds.org/luke/11/14-20#14 And, before you go and twist what I am saying with this reference, no I am not saying that Joseph Smith is the Savior's equal. I am just pointing out that His enemies leveled the same kinds of unfounded accusations against him as you level against Joseph Smith. Finally http://scriptures.lds.org/matt/5/11-12
