I had the EXACT samething!! I've never heard of anyone else who has done that before!
Actually, I never did see or ask a Doctor about it, it just sort of became something I lived with. Then one day, I just noticed it was gone..! I don't think it did me any damage, and like I say, it just up and left one day!
Graphite is absolutley nothing to worry about.
A girl stuck me in the elbow with a pencil lead when I was in the 5th grade. Lets see, that was, hmmmmm, about 44 years ago, and so far I have had no problems.
ha same thing happened to me too!! in 5th grade. Im 25 now, you can still see it in my right palm, doesnt bother me. hope i dont get some weird cancer in like 15 years because of it
If the embedded lead is not surrounded by any redness or pain , you do not have to worry. as usually scar and fibrous tissue have sealed it off .
However, if there is pain or redness or swelling, see a doctor immediately as it may cause complications
You can also get it removed surgically , its a minor procedure.
I've got a clearly visible one on my right hand from a mech pencil. I tried to dig the damn thing out after two months and found it virtually impossble. There I was, sitting in my washroom with a candle, some Bactine, and tweezers; I felt like I was in the Middle Ages. I have so much more respect for surgeons now. : - )
No, I'm pretty sure it is harmless...my mother had a tiny rock embedded in her knee when she was about 5 or 6...and it never bothered her (she died at age 89).
I doubt it. Unless there are any swellings or bruises, I wouldn't worry about it.
It happened to my girlfriend once and twice to me (DUH!). Walked all the way to the nurses office with the pencil dangling out of my wrist.
We're carbon based life forms, it's no more harmful than eating a mashmallow that's been dropped in the campfire.
Well, i would say probably not but you never know. if it was a pencil from the 1920's then probably worry. ;)
The only thing you have to worry about is doing it again. Hint: Don't be a klutz!

You're reading I have a graphite mark embedded in my skin from accidentally stabbing myself with a pencil long ago. Is it anything to worry about?

I've got one in my knee from bouncing on a sofa at age 9. Still there after 13 years, but it's never caused problems for me.
