    Great Answer

    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

Along with vigorous training, education and safety measures, a background check and security clearance is conducted on correctional officer applicants in Canada. In the U.S., a security clearance is not initially conducted but may be specifically requested depending on state requirements and the position desired.
