    It is safe to swim usually within two hours of shocking a swimming pool; however, always check the chlorine levels before jumping in the pool. Chlorine levels should remain between 1.5 and 3.0 parts per million.

    It's not the amount of time but when the chlorine level gets down to 1.5 - 3.5ppm. If you bring your chlorine level up 10 times the amount of the combined chlorine, this is a true pool shock, it will take a couple of days before the chlorine level comes down to a safer level.

    If you need to use the pool faster, you can get a product called Thiosulphate from your local pool store. This is a chlorine neutralizer and it works very well.

    2-3 hours make sure u do a chlorine and ph test before u swim though
