    Great Answer

    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

    Step 1

Determine who's name the home's title is currently in. This person will become the grantor. This should be completed by an abstractor, who can also provide you with a legal description of the property. Next, decide who will be added to the title. This person is now called the grantee.

    Step 2

Compile a list of the grantor and grantee's names, the property address, and the legal description. Send this information to an attorney or online deed preparing service for a deed to be sent directly to you.

    Step 3

When the deed arrives, the grantor should sign in the presence of a notary public. Once signed, the deed can be taken to the county recorder's office and filed on record. There will be a recording fee charged that varies state by state.
