Rub penny with common pencil eraser thoroughly. Using a brush, scrub the penny with ketchup thoroughly. Rinse off the ketchup after the penny is sufficiently scrubbed. Make a paste by adding a little bit of water to baking soda. Apply the paste to the penny using your fingers. Scrub gently. Allow some time for the penny to dry. Repeat as necessary. Another similar method is to mix salt and vinegar and soak the penny in the liquid. After a few minutes, scrub the penny with a brush and apply baking soda paste. Purchase a copper polisher and follow instructions on how to apply and polish the penny.Use Eraser

Yeah, that other answer says to use ketchup, may be right, but ive always left pennys overnite in BROWN sauce. Also you can make up a paste using Dried Badgers Droppings finely ground up, the eyelid of a south american transparent bullfrog,(shredded) the fluid from the kneecaps of a Hungarian Weasel Clipper, 2 teaspoons of slightly moistened Ginger Beard Trimmings, a pint of Russian Antelopes Urine, a pinch of Brazilian Wild Warthogs powdery nasal hair, a handful of sun dried Alaskan Cockroach Vomit, and 3 leaves from a Juniper Tree soaked overnight in Tarantulas Saliva. Mix all this together till you have the perfect winter salad dressing. As for the penny? rinse off sauce, dry,put in pocket!!! Job done.
