Primarily because God wants us to reap the benefits that come along with worship. God wants us to have blessings and its through worship that we recieve them.

Our reaching out toward each other--our interaction is mutually beneficial. In the Old Testement, it can be easily deduced that Job's devotion proved that he was morally superior to Yahweh, when viewed from an objective moral perspective. God was mixed with the influence of devils, and therefore can easily be seen as unconscious of his shortcomings. It would follow then that he wanted to acquire that level of righteousness back, which may indeed have culminated in the appearance of the Christ. Therefore, we are not the only ones redeemed by Christ; the God is also redeemed by Christ's humanity.... Man gains what cannot have on his own: wisdom, and God gains what he cannot acquire on his own: consciousness.

In the Bible, God compares our relationship to him with the relationship of parent to child. If parents could get along just fine in the world without children, why do we invest so much of ourselves (time, money, emotion, etc.) in them? I, for one, enjoy the affection and attention of my children. I derive satisfaction from seeing my children develop into functional adults. It appears from the old and New Testament that God wants people to choose to love him because it pleases him. And it pleases him to reward those who choose him. Perhaps it also pleases him to see us mature spiritually... Remember that any parallel between God and how we think and feel is very limited. No human can honestly claim to fully understand the mind or motivations of God because God claims his ways and thoughts are so much higher than ours (Isa 55:9).

God cares only that we know of His love for us. God doesn't make demands, we do. God is without expectation. He anticipates our love. We are free to accept or reject His love. As the giver of free will He has eternal patience.

God is omnipotent, that is, "all powerful," and omniscient, "all knowing." God cares whether we worship Him, or not because He created us a gift and there is no greater gift than living in Heaven with God and Jesus, our Saviour and our fellow loved ones. I hope this helps to answer your question.

God does not need worship from us but God deserves worship from us. We also have to beware of idolatry. Man commits idolatry whenever he honors and reveres a creature in place of God, whether this be gods or demons (for example, satanism), power, pleasure, race, ancestors, the state, money, etc. In the lands that surrounded Israel, there were many who worshiped false gods including the Egyptians. Later the Jews had to deal with the Greek and Roman gods and goddesses worshiped by their Governors and occupying forces. Today people put many things in front of God in their lives including money, status, self, power, etc. If we worship God as He deserves then we can easily stay away from idolatry. For more information, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church, sections 2083 and following: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt3sect2chpt1.htm#art1 With love in Christ.

In Revelations, it speaks about Angels in heaven, whose sole purpose and function is to praise God. They say "Holy, holy, holy" and bow down and worship Him. Over and over and over again without end. They do this because they are with God and see Him as He is. If one person on earth could see God in all His glory, they would have no choice but to fall on their face in fear and awe of such as awesome God. I agree with some of the comments above that God wants our worship because it's right and He wants us to benefit from it. We were created to worship Him so when we do, we are functioning in the will of God and it's so fulfilling. It brings joy and peace to our own lives because God is love and He inhabits the praises of His people and in the presence of God is perfect peace and everlasting joy.
-
God doesn't care whether or not we worship Him, and nothing changes in our eternal life because of it. (Note that this question is not under the Christian, Muslim, or Jewish categories.)
-
That's the amazing part of it!! He actually wants to be our friend! He wants a relationship with us...He's that forgiving... and that loving!
-
Because of Him we exist.

Is it important to you that your children love and respect you? Do you want your children to communicate with you?
-
Look at God as you would your father. Parents don't want us burning houses down not just because it's wrong but because they do not want us getting harmed. Like parents are more powerful than infants so is God to us. Gods only mission is to be believed.
-
becuase he doest think of power the same way as us humans, God doesnt just do things because he can.

There has never been or will ever be anyone that will love you more than God. He love you regardless of all you inperfections and bad deeds toward him. Please believe that God love you and everyone in this world and that you need to believe in Jesus his son to have everlasting life.
-
Why do you care if your husband, or wife, or lover acknowledges your love? I know it is rhetorical, but it makes the point.

If we could describe and explain in such a simplistic way and terms this "SUPERIOR BEING"--transcendental in power and intelligence; and if we could ascribe to this "SUPERIOR BEING" our own human characteristics down to the pettiest things, then there would be no reason to believe that this "SUPERIOR BEING" is [transcendental] or in any way superior to us. The truth is that we don't really have, never had and never will, a true understanding of the concept of that which we call "GOD", and we're only pretending we do by filling that void with the most perplexing and astonishing concocted fables which could never shed--not even remotely--true illumination on the narrow ideas, ideals and concept of men about their MAKER. The Bible--which supposedly is a written record chronicling the creation of the world, the supposed direct and personal involvement of GOD in the affairs of men, and different "historical" events of assumed divine implication--is an untrustworthy source of true information about the SUPREME SPIRIT. It's not a reliable source for establishing truth but only a pitifully dramatized motley concoction of pre-extant pagan delusions for which reasonableness cannot vouch; consequently, is not capable of presenting advanced ideas to expand, enrich and nourish men's spiritual perception of the SUPREME SPIRIT and their spiritual connection to IT. Now those in the business of downgrading people, just go ahead and do what you do best.
