Do you ever carry ID just in case you die while you're out hiking or running?

    No...just in case I get sick and need medical attention. It's not quite so urgent if I die. If I'm sick, my ID will say who to notify.

    I ride a bicycle a lot, but it's for fun and exercise so I'm not really going anywhere, and I don't want or need to carry a wallet ... but I always carry my old expired drivers license, mainly so if I'm hit by a car or something they'll know who I am and can figure out who to contact

    I carry a cell phone, a bic lighter, and my leatherman as often as I can.
    That will cover the basics in most survival situations.

    The wallet, isn't always important.
    If I need to be identified, they can use use my teeth, finger prints or DNA. ID is not necessary.

    I'd rather avoid a situation where an ID was needed to identify my corpse.

    I don't do hiking or running... I'm pregnant so I'm supposed to take my pregnancy notes wherever I go in case something happens to me... morbid much?
    I take my ID everywhere because you never know when you're going to need it - like if I go into a shop with my other half and he wants to buy something alcoholic, if I don't have my ID too, he might not be allowed it and that's just silly. Plus, films, medicines, etc. Anything with an age restriction really...

    I think this is best broken down into two basic questions:

    1. Do I EVER carry ID? - Yes. I do.
    2. In case you die while hiking / running? - Not exactly the whole idea behind carrying ID now, izzit?
