    Great Answer

    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

    Pick the Bulbs

Choose bulbs that are slightly moist, but not wet or rotten. Rotten bulbs, or bulbs that have dried out, will not grow.

Decide on the site for planting, depending on the needs of your plants. Take into account the sun exposure, protection from elements and space needs of the plant.

    Plant

Amend the soil for bulb planting. Use organic compost and quick-draining soil to amend the site, as all bulbs need good drainage to thrive. Bulbs planted in thick, clay-like soil are prone to rotting before the sprout.

Add fertilizer to the soil before you plant. Mix balanced, organic fertilizer into your amended soil to support the bulbs once you plant them.
