    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

Tile, laminate and solid-surface countertops may be installed over existing countertops if the existing surface is completely smooth before sanding. Countertops made from wood, concrete and stone, like marble or granite, are too thick to install over existing wood or stone countertops. However, you can install wood or stone countertops over laminate or thin-surface counters.
