A casual relationship means that you might be dating someone, but you haven't made any kind of commitment to each other. I was just dating a girl, and when I was asking about us, she said she wanted to keep things casual: nothing serious, and not exclusive.

When you're dating someone and getting to know them, this is the period when you have a casual relationship. If you both make a commitment together, deciding to date each other exclusively, then you're looking at a serious relationship.

Basically it means a short-term relationship with no emotions involved, but just pure sex. Like Friends w/benefits, sex buddies etc. I would not recommend having it unless you are both mature adults who are well educated about sex, STDs, pregnancies, condoms, testing regularly, etc.

Read this link on wikipedia, it should explain it better:

An intimate relationship with a lack of commitment. Right ?? Sort of like a fling, but could last longer. That's how I understand it.

A casual relationship implies lack of commitment, emotional or otherwise, and with no view to working to deepen the relationship. Casual relationship suggests easy come, easy go.

I would say a casual relationship is sort of a friendship in which two people date, or hang out, but it is not exclusive, but just having fun. NO commitment and no strings attached

Casual implies simply that there is mutual attraction. Perhaps it will lead to some emotional connections eventually for one, or both of you, but that usually hasn't happened yet. Eventually, if emotions become involved, then one party will broach the subject of exclusive dating. This would mean the casual relationship is casual no more.
