Click the "Start" or Windows button in the lower left corner of the screen, then select "Control Panel." Choose the "Phone and Modems" option.
Select the "Modems" tab at the top of the window, then choose the modem that you would like to change. Click the "Properties" button in the lower right corner of the window.
Click the "Advanced" tab at the top of the window, then choose the "Advanced Port Settings" option. Select the "COM3" option under the "COM Port Number" section, then click "Apply," then "OK."
