  • They are All right. There is but one God. Pick one and go for it. Really.
  • Thank you. You are indeed an enlightened person. It is certain within this volaitile time that we are to maintain sense. God does not take sides. He seperates us only by our convictions...not our politics. Somehow we must spread the Word.
  • The short answer is you can't tell. The very fact that there are so many denominations (Catholics, Porotestants, Pentocostals, Witnesses, Mormons, etc, etc.), and that adherents to each one are absolutely positively certain that they, alone, are correct with no doubt whatsoever, should tell you something: that you CAN'T even be sure that *YOUR* church is absolutely positively right. As long as you accept God/Jesus, once in Heaven it won't matter one whit which particular brand of Chistianity you followed to get there.
  • I must say that the answers I see to that question are very disturbing. How can we render our self’s to a god whom we don’t know and the only way to know him is in spirit and in truth. To be a follower of Christ requires much more of us then simple believing any thing that we see fit that’s the whole reason for all these denominations that we have to sift thru to find the truth. But there is a very good answer to that question. And ill pull it rite out of the bible for you. Study to show thy self approved a workman before god that neadth not to be ashamed. The bible has so many scriptures that point out not believing in false profits and or denominations that are not founded on truth only. The simple way to discern is to compeer what your being taught with the bible if all the bible lines up 100 % with what your told on any subject then your ok but if there are thing that aren’t lining up with gods word then you need to ask why and probably move on until you find truth. Seek and you shall find knock and the door shale be opened.
  • Jesus said "by this all will know that YOU are my disciples, if YOU have love among yourselves.” (John 13:35) It is also said "by their fruits YOU will recognize them. Never do people gather grapes from thorns or figs from thistles, do they? Likewise every good tree produces fine fruit, but every rotten tree produces worthless fruit; a good tree cannot bear worthless fruit, neither can a rotten tree produce fine fruit. Every tree not producing fine fruit gets cut down and thrown into the fire. Really, then, by their fruits YOU will recognize those [men]." (Matthew 7:16-20) An explanation of what is good or bad "fruit" is found in Galatians 5:19-26 19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, and they are fornication, uncleanness, loose conduct, 20 idolatry, practice of spiritism, enmities, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, contentions, divisions, sects, 21 envies, drunken bouts, revelries, and things like these. As to these things I am forewarning YOU, the same way as I did forewarn YOU, that those who practice such things will not inherit God’s kingdom. 22 On the other hand, the fruitage of the spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, 23 mildness, self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Moreover, those who belong to Christ Jesus impaled the flesh together with its passions and desires. 25 If we are living by spirit, let us go on walking orderly also by spirit. 26 Let us not become egotistical, stirring up competition with one another, envying one another. So we can tell if a Christian church is really following Christ by the conduct which is condoned by it's members. The members can not be allowed to practice unclean acts without the congregation reproving them in an upbuilding way. (Galatians 6:1) 6 Brothers, even though a man takes some false step before he is aware of it, YOU who have spiritual qualifications try to readjust such a man in a spirit of mildness." . . and eventually not associating with unrepentant sinners. If not, then they are not following the commands of God, for it is even written, "but now I am writing YOU to quit mixing in company with anyone called a brother that is a fornicator or a greedy person or an idolater or a reviler or a drunkard or an extortioner, not even eating with such a man." (1 Corinthians 5:11) . The absence of hatred and presence of loving kindness is not the only identifying mark though. Jesus also said "YOU are my friends if YOU do what I am commanding YOU." (John 15:14) What are Jesus' commands, besides loving God and your neighbour? (Matthew 28:19-20) 19 Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded YOU." Compare this also to Matthew 24:9-14 “Then people will deliver YOU up to tribulation and will kill YOU, and YOU will be objects of hatred by all the nations on account of my name. ...14 And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come." So if the Christian church in question does not preach the good news, they are not friends of Jesus...and if they are loved and adored by the world it is because they are a part of the world, a member of Satans organization here on earth ((1 John 5:19) . . .the whole world is lying in the [power of the] wicked one.", (John 15:18-16:4) 18 If the world hates YOU, YOU know that it has hated me before it hated YOU. 19 If YOU were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own. Now because YOU are no part of the world, but I have chosen YOU out of the world, on this account the world hates YOU. 20 Bear in mind the word I said to YOU, A slave is not greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will persecute YOU also; if they have observed my word, they will observe YOURS also. 21 But they will do all these things against YOU on account of my name, because they do not know him that sent me. 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23 He that hates me hates also my Father. 24 If I had not done among them the works that no one else did, they would have no sin; but now they have both seen and hated me as well as my Father. 25 But it is that the word written in their Law may be fulfilled, ‘They hated me without cause.’ 26 When the helper arrives that I will send YOU from the Father, the spirit of the truth, which proceeds from the Father, that one will bear witness about me; 27 and YOU, in turn, are to bear witness, because YOU have been with me from when I began. 16 “I have spoken these things to YOU that YOU may not be stumbled. 2 Men will expel YOU from the synagogue. In fact, the hour is coming when everyone that kills YOU will imagine he has rendered a sacred service to God. 3 But they will do these things because they have not come to know either the Father or me. " So, to review...the true church will be an object of hatred among all the nations, engage in a preaching and proseletyzing work worldwide, disfellowship members who are unrepentant sinners, and display the fruitage of the spirit, being humble and forgiving. Hope this helps you HG. Edited Mar 20 Thanks HG, unity of faith was an afterthought which I wanted to include, but didn't have time. This unity and lack of divisions or sects is also a way of finding the true way of worshipping God, in an acceptable way. The reason is this; if someone is willing to be humble and truly values the advice from the bible, they will listen to reasoning from the scriptures, and adjust their beliefs according to what the word of God says. The Bible will be seen as the ultimate authority, and they will "not lean upon their own understanding", or pridefully stick to tradition (and false teachings). (Proverbs 3:5) They must earnestly endeavour to find the truth, to apply it in their lives. They must also show an active interest in doing research to find out if what they believe is true. Each and every member will continually examine their beliefs and come to more accurate understanding, testing what they believe and refining it until all that is left is truth. (2 Corinthians 13:5-6) 5 Keep testing whether YOU are in the faith, keep proving what YOU yourselves are." They must always be prepared to defend their faith, and give reproof to others, teach them from the Bible so everyone believes the same thing, because there is only one Bible, there should only be one set of rules for all mankind, for God does not make disorder and confusion, as is evident in the finely tuned and predictable universe He created. (Ephesians 4:12-13) "with a view to the readjustment of the holy ones, for ministerial work...until we all attain to the oneness in the faith and in the accurate knowledge of the Son of God" (1 Peter 3:8-17) 8 Finally, all of YOU be like-minded, showing fellow feeling, having brotherly affection, tenderly compassionate, humble in mind, 9 not paying back injury for injury or reviling for reviling, but, to the contrary, bestowing a blessing, because YOU were called to this [course], so that YOU might inherit a blessing. 10 For, “he that would love life and see good days, let him restrain his tongue from what is bad and [his] lips from speaking deception, 11 but let him turn away from what is bad and do what is good; let him seek peace and pursue it. 12 For [the] eyes of Jehovah are upon the righteous ones, and his ears are toward their supplication; but [the] face of Jehovah is against those doing bad things.” 13 Indeed, who is the man that will harm YOU if YOU become zealous for what is good? 14 But even if YOU should suffer for the sake of righteousness, YOU are happy. However, the object of their fear do not YOU fear, neither become agitated. 15 But sanctify the Christ as Lord in YOUR hearts, always ready to make a defense before everyone that demands of YOU a reason for the hope in YOU, but doing so together with a mild temper and deep respect. 16 Hold a good conscience, so that in the particular in which YOU are spoken against they may get ashamed who are speaking slightingly of YOUR good conduct in connection with Christ. 17 For it is better to suffer because YOU are doing good, if the will of God wishes it, than because YOU are doing evil. . . (Ephesians 4:1-6) "walk worthily of the calling with which YOU were called, 2 with complete lowliness of mind and mildness, with long-suffering, putting up with one another in love, 3 earnestly endeavoring to observe the oneness of the spirit in the uniting bond of peace. 4 One body there is, and one spirit, even as YOU were called in the one hope to which YOU were called; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all" Sorry I didn't present the last few scriptures very well, I didn't want to shorten them or break them up and lose the line of thought...
  • Pray, Read, we are all responsible for our OWN SALVATION. the world is supposed to get this way, we have to STAY AWAKE.
  • The reason there’s so many different Christian churches in the first place is because the people started refusing to listen to God’s prophets and Apostles, relying instead on their own wisdom. Eventually it became so bad that the prophets and Apostles were taken away altogether, leaving the earth in a state of apostasy for hundreds of years (just as occurred several times in the Bible, but since the Bible was compiled during the last of these apostasies, it doesn’t have anything else beyond the beginning of said apostasy).   The short answer is that if you want to know which one is right, you have to become a prophet yourself: as the Apostle John stated in Revelation 19:10, “the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” Approach the Lord in prayer. You obviously “lack wisdom,” so the commandment is to “ask of God” (James 1:5). He’ll let you know.   As an aside, this is exactly the advice taken by a young boy named Joseph Smith Jr., almost 200 years ago. Maybe the experience he had—available, in his own words, online at http://scriptures.lds.org/en/js_h/1/11-17#8—can help you, too. (I know it helped me when I had this same question!)   God bless!
  • Define 'right' ;)
  • All religions serve the same purpose, and that is give people a way to search for the answers to the meaning of life. In providing that, they are all "right".
  • I think a lot of religions have many core similarities. They just don't always see that. Believe what you want to believe since there is no true way to prove one is better than the other. I choose agnostic because I feel that is the best thing I can do right now: be middle of the road until some definitive proof comes along.
  • Most religions do not conceed that all religions are "right." Also, many religions do have basic fundemental beliefs.
  • Because at their core, they exhort people to treat each other well, and do good overall. Any religion that does all that is "right" in my book. :o)
  • like what?
  • They're all right...right out of a loonie bin
  • It's a mistake to think of religions in terms of which ones are "right" and which ones are "wrong" -- even though religious people often think in these terms. But being "right" isn't the POINT of religion -- the point of religion is to become a better person, not to have a correct theory or explanation of metaphysics and ethics. Too often adherents get bogged down in these distractions, arguing about the nature of God or the path to salvation or the exact rules of morality. All of that is silly: there's a lot that we just don't know about life, and there's no evidence that religion makes those questions go away. But religion CAN be helpful for spiritual development: for becoming a better, kinder, more compassionate, more ethical, more generous person. That's the point, and all the major religions are able to help in that regard. IF people don't get distracted by the theological fluff.
