    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

The 14th Amendment, passed on July 9, 1868, granted full citizenship to black Americans. The 14th Amendment deemed that anyone "born or naturalized in the United States" was a citizen, and it prohibited states from denying anyone "life, liberty or property without due process of law."
