How come so many people don't know about the country of Laos?

That's a very vague and innacurate question. I'm assuming that you've asked a lot of different people questions about Laos...frankly you're just asking the wrong people. Ask someone who studies Asia, or world geography, or a historian in general. Ask a Vietnam War veteran or an Asian from the area, and you'll find out plenty about Laos. Just because one or two people can't answer your question about Laos doesn't mean that nobody knows anything about it. Laos is not a very 'hot' country in that there is always very little in the news about it. Its not like Cambodia, where many Vietnam ops inadvertantly ended up stretching into, mostly by accident. Laos has always been rather quiet on the world front.

Everybody I know, all the people I work with, most of the people in my social circle, and the average person on the street that I encounter every day knows a great deal about Laos... maybe you are running in the wrong circles.

Many people I know are aware of the country Laos. They even want to visit it someday.

I don't know, maybe they're just stupid. I don't know anyone specifically who isn't aware of the existence of Laos, so I can't say.

I think a lot of people are aware of Laos. Now, if you are asking a bunch of 14 and 15 year olds, then yes, they may be clueless. However, I think the average, educated person knows that it is in existence.
