Help answer this question below.
Egg Beaters were first manufactured in 1972 by ConAgra Foods, a company based in St. Louis, Missouri.
Egg Beaters are made with real eggs, but yolks are removed to reduce cholesterol and calories. Vitamins and other nutrients are added to the white, as well as thickening agents such as guar gum.
The original Egg Beaters without yolk contain no fat or cholesterol and are very low in calories. They are deemed to be a good source of protein. Flavored varieties are now available; these also contain no cholesterol and are low in fat and calories.
Egg Beaters were originally sold frozen, but refrigerated varieties were introduced in 1994.
Aside from the original Egg Beaters, ConAgra now makes cheese and chive, garden vegetable, and Southwestern flavors, which contain a mixture of herbs and vegetables.
