There are, you can see them at most drive through banks with the plastic cylinders and pneumatic tubes. They used to be a lot more common, I can remember when, at stores, you'd give your money to the clerk and she'd put it in one of those tubes and whoosh it off to the cashier who would whoosh your change back. Considering the diameter of those tubes, you can imagine the logistics and costs involved in tunneling, digging, laying tubes and the complicated routing gates. And then of course in this age of E-money and no real currency being moved or changing hands, the fiber optics are moving money. Data money. "Data quarter? Will ya swap dese two dimes and a nickel for it?"
