  • Try approaching your bunny while talking to her, and from above or the side of her face. All rabbits have a blind spot directly in front of their face, and if you approach directly from the front and or under the nose level, a bunny literally cannot see you coming. Try to imagine having a prey animal's eye positioning on the sides of your head and then being able to see at your nose and chin level. Many rabbits will be startled when their face is approached from the front and growl just because they're startled - they can't see you.
  • Growling and scratching are common signs of anger or temper in a rabbit. IT is also a sign of insecurity and stress. Rabbits are ground animals and until they are trained, will be quite uneasy about being picked up by a large predator, humans. So it's important that you learn how to pick up a rabbit in a secure manner.
