    Document formatting can be turned off in Microsoft Word 2007. Open Word 2007 and click the "Microsoft Office" button, then "Word Options," then "Proofing" then "Auto Correct." Under the "AutoFormat As You Type" tab, uncheck the features you wish to disable.
