How do I increase my population? I've tried building more houses to populate my town centres, capitols, etc. What else can I try?

Houses don't increase your population - they provide morale.

Increase your pop by:
1) Getting a civ upgrade using your crown points
2) Build the coliseum
3) Place units in fortresses, units in fortresses don't count to your pop.

You can use the Priest to convert other persons from other nations.
Use the cheat to make the priest power full. Type " I have the power ". No quotes. He has instant power.

Remember the citizens are your most important people in the game.
