    Great Answer

    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

Teenagers may become depressed for a variety of reasons, according to TeenDepression.org. Depressed teenagers should be monitored carefully for signs of suicidal thinking, particularly those being treated with antidepressant medications.

    Cause

Some cases of teen depression may be caused by the normal stress of growing and changing; other cases may be caused by upsetting life events, such as death of a loved one or divorce. Abuse, illness, a family history of depression and difficulty making friends are other factors that may contribute to teen depression.

    Considerations

A certain amount of mood fluctuation is common in teenagers, making symptoms of teen depression difficult to recognize, according to HelpGuide.org.

    Symptoms

Symptoms of depression may include prolonged periods of sadness and withdrawal, crying spells, loss of previous interests and suicidal thoughts. According to HelpGuide.org, symptoms that may be unique to teenagers may include periods of anger and hostility, extreme sensitivity to criticism and withdrawal from only certain people.

    Warning

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, suicide is the third leading cause of death among those 10 to 24 years old. Depression is a possible risk factor of suicide.

    Risk

According to HelpGuide.org, antidepressant medications may increase the likelihood that a teenager will commit suicide, with the suicide risk greatest "during the first one or two months of antidepressant treatment."

teens have a lot on their minds.
School is just one of the major things. We have assignments and homework, and that takes up alot of time.
Having friends and keeping them, socializing and trying to do things on the weekend can get a little hectic and then there is always family problems or friendship problems and all the rest of it....

Sometimes teenagers just put themselves under the knife way to much and they cant handle it. They always strive for perfection and sometimes its just impossible
