  • One reason is that is is very difficult to get sterile water unless has other substances in it. So there is a chance of introducing bacteria to the surface of the eye. Another reason is that some lenses can actually absorb water and this makes the lens very floppy and hard to manipulate into position.
  • Actually contact lenses only suit the eyes and that means to say that it is only good when in touch with saline solution because our eyes are suited for that. our tears is salty so that means to say it compose of salt so in other words it is good when in touch with saline solution.
  • Saline water used to be the best option to wet and store soft contact lenses. The salt in the saline solution prevented the growth of bacteria and other harmful organisms. The contact solutions designed for this use are better than just saline. Using plain water will invite growth. If you swim in a non chlorinated water and expose your contacts to the water, you could get some harmful bacteria and parasites in your contacts. The best thing to do is don't wear your contacts in the pond, lake, river, or ocean or throw them away that night and put clean contacts on in the morning.
