  • Without close veterinary supervision, absolutely not. Your cat may need to have blood work and a physical examination done prior to receiving aspirin to ensure the liver, kidneys, and thyroid gland are in working order. Some cats, just like humans, are actually allergic to aspirin or can have bleeding disorders that are exacerbated by this drug. In larger doses aspirin cannot be broken down because cats are deficient in a liver enzyme called UDP-glucuronyl transferase. This causes toxic metabolites of aspirin to accumulate in the body and make your cat very sick or even cause death. This enzyme is also responsible for the metabolism of morphine, coumarin (a blood-thinner), and certain other drugs. If your veterinarian sees nothing wrong with your cat's internal workings, he will discern the proper dose and instruct you how to medicate your cat. Whatever you do, do NOT give your cat acetaminophen (Tylenol), as two 325mg tablets are enough to kill it. • The previous answer given was excellent. But I would like to add that you should NEVER give your cat ibuprofin (Advil, Motrin) or naproxin (Aleve) either, as both of these drugs are also toxic to cats. Also, if your cat is suffering from vomiting or diarrhea, NEVER give Pepto-Bismol. It contains an ingredient closely related to aspirin, which can also be toxic to kitties.
  • NO. Aspirin can kill cats and should never be given.
  • My kitten was sick with diarrhea and fever and I got kitten anti=diarrheal at Petco and started her on that to stop the persistent runs but she also had a fever so I figured that a small amount of baby Motrin would help...my kitten ended up dying from what I believe was motrin toxicity....I cried and cried because I had her for over a month and then I just lost her, just like that...please dont ever give your cat or kitten any over the counter medications as they do not metabolize them the same as a human does...I had to find out the hard way...you dont.
  • Not without instructions about dosage per weight and exact timing between doses given you by your vet. Aspirin can easily cause hemolytic anemia in cats.
  • NO! NEVER! Aspirin is toxic to cats, and can kill them.
  • Cats should never be given medication that is meant for humans...the dosage could kill them. Always talk to your vet!
  • I had an elderly cat that broke her pelvis jumping from the carport roof...the vet instructed me to give her 1/2 baby asprin every 3 days. She healed and lived 18 more months to the ripe old age of 17 1/2 years! Her name was Broadway...hence, my screen name!
  • Absolutely do not give your pets human medicine especially an aspirin. It can paralyze and even kill them.
  • No, aspirin is poison to cats.
