    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

In general, round roast refers to meat derived from the rear end of the animal. Top round roast, then, refers to meat coming from the upper rear end. This cut of meat tends to be somewhat tough but, according to the Beef Culinary Center, has great flavor and is boneless.
