My 30 gig iPod keeps freezing my iTunes! How do I fix it!?

I have an older 30 gig iPod video, I think it's a second gen. It's worked fine for years but reccently I've been having some problems. I hadn't used it in a long time, and tried conncecting it to my computer and it told me that I needed to format my iPod. Which I thought was fine because I needed to resync it and put new music on it anyways. But then after it formated it wasn't connecting to iTunes and as soon as I connected it to the computer my iTunes would open up and immediately freeze. Also when I would go into My Computer it wouldn't even show up as an iPod, it showed up as an SD card and I wouldn't even be able to open it. It's acting really retarded and I have tried everything I can think of to get it to work. The real problem is when it freezes iTunes, I can't close it even with Task Manager and then I have to restart my whole computer. It's driving me NUTS! I'm really worried it's not fixable. Someone have any idea what to do?

    Asker's Pick

Selected by the asker, brieepbreee. (What's this?)

So I figured it out on my own because nothing anyone else told me worked. Basically I had to use a different computer to reformat the iPod and then it worked after I put back on my other computer. Reformatting is the way to go! But if you're having similar problems where your computer won't let it reformat, try using a different computer. That's the only way I was able to do it. Also don't let it do a quick format. Let it do the long drawn out one so it works correctly.

buy a new iPod. if that doesn't work, download a better version of iTunes. if that still doesn't work, buy a new computer.
