Is it true that elephants are the only mammals that can't jump? If so, why can't they jump?

    They have knees but they can't jump since their legs arent that strong to push their heavy body upwards.

    The bones in an elephant's foot are more closely packed together than other mammals so they do not have the flexibility or spring mechanisms that would enable them to jump.

    No, it isn't true. Dolphins are mammals, and I'm pretty sure they don't use legs to jump. Elephants cannot jump, either, but they aren't the only mammals that lack the ability.

    Mainly because elephants are too big, too slow, and probably would break there legs, if they did jump.

    Never watched an elephant jump. just too big.

    If an elephant jumps it will crush its knees as they land because the bones arent strong enough to withstand the impact.

    If they couldn't jump it'd be because they are FAT! Why else because of something called 'classical physics'. I have seen em stomp on the heads of their owners in Thialand. Why would they need to do a running jump, they are taller than most things, so evolution comes into play. I bet they could though if they wanted and maybe used their BRAIN for two seconds.
