You're reading have you ever gotten indigestion from Ice cream?
Comments
I'm not lactose intolerant, unless that can happen overnight. I bought a publix brand chocolate "churned" Its light so it has half the fat and sugar as regular ice cream. But when i bought and got it home I tried it because I didn't notice it was light till I got home so I had a like a 1/2 cup, it was very good.. so about less then 2 hours goes by and I have the worst case of indigestion, I tried everything.. Then finally upchucked and the pain went away.. Then after dinner I had a small bowl of it not realizing it could have been the Ice cream that caused my troubles and two hours later I had indigestion again. Nothing got rid of the pain, I finally called the pharmacy and told him my dilemma and he said maalox. so at 4 in the morning I drove to walgreens bought maalox and 20 minutes later i was all better... UGHH
I do appreciate your comment it was very informative! Maybe i had to much dairy yesterday?

That is a whole different problem altogether. Light ice creams are often high in soy, and soy is one of the top 8 most common food allergens. The top eight are peanuts, nuts, dairy, eggs, fish, shellfish, soy and wheat. I'd be checking the label to see what was in it. Vomiting right after eating something is a pretty common sign of a food allergy. Your body has identified the food as an invader, just like it would a bacteria or virus, and it is getting it out of you, just like it would tainted food. There is probably something in it that you are allergic to, and being "light" my first guess would be soy. After soy, there are other modified oils that they sometimes use, or some of the gums or thickeners are less common allergens. Even spices can cause problems. My own food allergy list is long and varied and there are many on it that are at the anaphylaxis level (you know, like the kids that drop dead after eating peanuts). I have to be very careful of soy, so I have to really watch light foods. But I'm also allergic to a long a varied list of spices, and most oils (I can still use butter, lard and canola oil), most vegetables and chicken, fish and shellfish. I'm also allergic to every artificial sweetener I've tried, so I have to watch "light" foods for that reason too. You might want to check what the sweetener in the ice cream is too.

I looked up the ingredients. It contains sorbitol, which is known to have a laxative effect in sensitive individuals.

thanks, is there a test dr.s can perform to see if your allergic to certain things? I'd hate to assume, but i really don't want to try it again to find out the hard way.
