Honored in 1932 when an Oscar was presented to Walt Disney for the creation of "Mickey Mouse". Of course Walt accepted on behalf of Mickey :-)

I am looking forward to the day when best actor goes to a character like Shrek, Buzz Lightyear or Gromit! Its hard with animated characters as do you give all the credit to the person who does the voice or the designers and animators of the character. Think there could be some big arguements over that in a few years time.

I believe Snow White got a special oscar with seven smaller oscars attached... so, technically both animated people and dwarves have won oscars.
