    While many flat irons have an automatic shut-off mechanism, not all do. It is advisable to manually turn off and unplug the iron after every use. Failure to do so may result in a fire, injury or death.

    Some do, such as the Hotness Flat Iron. You can program it to turn off in a set amount of time.
