We don't see the Book of Mormon as contradicting the Bible. It may contradict your interpretation of the Bible, but not ours. **************************** David, We agree that, if you want to know the truth, then the Bible is not open to personal interpretation. Only that interpretation that comes through the Holy Ghost is true. However, the fact that there are so many different religions that believe so many different, conflicting doctrines shows that every one can't be interpreting the Bible through the power of the Holy Ghost. Obviously, we can't all be right. You believe that you are right. We believe that we are right. Thus, my answer.

WHAT THE MORMON CHURCH TEACHES: 1. God has godess wives "this doctrine that there is a mother in heaven was affirmed in all plainness by the first presidency of the church(Bruce R. McConkie,Apostle,Mormon Doctine,p.516) 2. Jesus and Satan are spirit brothers.(Milton R.Hunter,First Council of Seventy,The Gospel Through the Ages,p.15). 3.There are many Gods "a council of Gods"(Joseph Smith,Founder and First Prophet,History of the Church,vol.6,pp.308,474). 4.Man may become God.(Joseph Smith,History of the Church,vol.6,p.306) 5.Jesus was married.(Orson Hyde,Apostle,Journal of Discourses,vol.2,p.82). 6.Mary was not a virgin when she gave birth to Jesus, she had Jesus when she consummated her marriage with Joseph.(Bruce R.McConkie,Mormon Doctrine,pp.547,742). 7.The black race is a cursed people.(Joseph Fielding Smith,The Way to Perfection,p.102) 8.God the father was a man who once dwelt on an earth.(Joseph Smith,History of the Church,vol.6,p.305). 9.The Bible is incomplete and has serious translation errors.(Bruce R. McConkie,Mormon Doctrine,pp.82,83). 10.Joseph Smith will be our final judge.(Brigham Young,Journal of Discourses, vol 7,p.289). 11.Except for the LDS (Mormon) Church, all churches are false.(Bruce R. McConkie,Mormon Doctrine,p.670) and (Doctrine and Covenants, 1:30). 12.The Book of Mormon was written by God through Joseph Smith. WHAT THE WORD OF GOD TEACHES THROUGH THE HOLY BIBLE: 1.There is absolutely no mention of any wives of God.There will be no marrying in heaven.(Matthew 22:29-30) 2.The real Jesus is the only begotten Son of God.He is God's son(John 1:1-14).Satan was a created angel-not a son of God.(Isaiah 14:12).Jesus created all things, and in Him the fullness of God dwells! (Colossians 1:15-20;Philippians 2:5-11;Hebrews 1:1-13). 3.There was,is,and always will be only one God(Isaiah 43:10-11;44:6-8;45:5-6,18-22;Deuteronomy 6:4;32:39;James 2:19). 4.The great lie of Satan from the beginning was that man may become a god(Genesis 3:1-5;Isaiah 14:12-15;Ezekiel 28:1-10). 5.Jesus and His disciples were guests at Cana(John 2:2). Read John 2:1-12.This Mormon doctrine is generally not taught openly today.Marriage in a Mormon temple(called celestial marriage) is mandatory to progress to becoming a god in Mormonism. To fit the theology of Mormonism, the Mormon "Jesus" has to be married-or He would only be a ministering servant of those in Mormonism's heaven who have "celestial marriage." 6.Jesus was begotten by the Holy Ghost.Mary was indeed a virgin(Matthew 1:18-23;Luke 1:35). 7.The color of a person's skin has no merit with God: "For there is no respect of persons with God" (Romans 2:11) and "For ye have not receieved the spirit of bondage again to fear;but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry,Abba,Father: (Romans 8:15). That includes all of us here on earth-black,white,red,or yellow, king or slave. All of us are made in God's image. 8.God was never a man.He created man! God has been God from all eternity to all eternity (Psalm 41:13;90:2,102:25-27;Romans 1:22-23) 9.The Bible is God's Word;and the word of God will stand forever(Isaiah 40:8,1 Peter 1:25;2 Timothy 3:16). 10.The Bible says God will judge us(not Joseph Smith)(John 12:48;Timothy 4:1) 11.The church is the spiritual body of Christian believers with Jesus at its head. That is the true church-not any specific organization(Ephesians 1:22-23;4:11-16;1 Corinthians 1:2;12:12;Matthew 16:18). 12."But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other then the one we preached to you,let him be eternally condemned!"(Galatians 1:8) Mormonism is a very dangerous cult they do not worship the same Christ as Christians. They try and pass themselves off as Christians but they are not.Even in there own Book of Mormon in Helaman 14:20-22 says 3 days of darkness after crucifixion but the Bible says in Luke 23:44 3 hours of darkness after crucifixion not 3 days. The Bible and the book of mormon are in clear contradiction of one another. The Bible warns us about false prophets such as Joseph Smith.

"I have more to boast of then ever any man had.I am the only man that has ever been able to keep a whole church together since the days of adem,A large majority of the whole have stood beside me.Neither Paul,John, peter nor Jesus ever did it.I boast that no man ever did such a work as I.The Followers of Jesus ran away from Him;but the latter-day saints never ran away from me yet."-Joseph smith(Joseph smith,History of the Church,vol.6,pp.408-09) No prophet of God ever made a statment like Joseph Smith's.King Neduchadnezzar had a similer pride to Joseph Smith's.He was driven out by God to live with the animals.(see Daniel 4:28-33) The Book of Mormon teaches that the disobedience of Adam and Eve in eating the forbidden fruit was necessary so that they could have children and bring joy to mankind (2 Nephi 2:23-25). In contrast, the Bible specifically declares that Adam’s transgression was a sinful act of rebellion that unleashed the power of sin and death in the human heart and throughout God’s perfect world (Genesis 3:16-19; Romans 5:12; 8:20-21). There is no Biblical support for the view that Adam and Eve could only fulfill the command to "be fruitful and multiply" (Genesis 1:28) by disobeying God’s command regarding the forbidden fruit (Genesis 2:17). The Book of Mormon teaching that these divine commands are contradictory, and that God expected Adam and Eve to figure out that in reality He wanted them to break the latter command ("of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it") in order to keep the former ("be fruitful and multiply"), has no basis in logic or the Biblical text, and attributes equivocation to God. Also Smith Claimed that the church established by Jesus in the first century was completely nonexistant by the 19 century.Eph 3:21 and Eph 4:11-16 says the church was growing spiritually mature, not degenrate.1 Tim 4:1 says that some will fall from the Faith not all.The apostale Peter made it clear that he thought the apostolic period was about to end why does he not tell his readers to look forward to another apostale? In Jude it speaks of "The faith which was once delivered to the saints"The expression "Once for all" indicates that the "delivery" of the faith is complete.(Jude 3)Remember that the Foundation was already laid by Jesus we do not need another(1 Cor 3:10).God Bless

Hebrews 1:1-2 and Luke 16:16 tell us that although we used to have prophets in the Old Testament, we no longer need them because we have Jesus Christ. Deuteronomy 18:20-22 tell us the test of a prophet is if any man speaks for God and it doesn't happen, he is not a prophet of God. If we apply this test to Joseph Smith we find there were many prophesies that never came true. Joseph said that God had commanded him to tell the people He would return in 56 years (History of the Church, 2:182). Joseph Smith said this in 1835, so adding 56 to 1835 brings us to 1891. Christ did not return in 1891, because He said that when He returns, every eye will see Him. (Rev 1:7) In another revelation given by Smith, he says in Doctrine & Covenants, Section 84:1-6 that a temple would be built within a generation in the western boundaries of Missouri. A generation to the Christian world is generally recognized as 40 years. However, let's use the Mormon definition of a generation as 110 years. This was recorded in 1832, so 166 years have passed and there is still no temple in the western boundaries of Missouri and there's certainly nobody still alive from that generation. According to God's word it only takes one false prophesy to make a false prophet. In just one period of time Smith gave 64 prophesies and 58 never came true and most are dated so the Mormon can't say it just hasn't happened yet. Mormonism teaches that the priesthood's they hold ( Melchezidek and Aaronic) was passed down to them by another man who already possesses the priesthood. However, Hebrews 7:24 says, "But this man because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood." The Greek definition for the words "unchangeable priesthood "mean" that which passes not from one to another." And "this man" referred to here is talking about Jesus Christ and nobody else. So the Bible clearly says that no one can receive the priesthood of Melchezidek or Aaron because Christ is the only holder of the priesthood. Hebrews 1:1-2,Hebrews 7:19-28 are clearly identifying Jesus Christ as the only high priest we have because all other priests passed on through death, but Jesus lives forever. 1.To be built "in this land" (3 Nephi: 20:22), specifically in Jackson County, Missouri. The building of the New Jerusalem was to begin at the temple lot in Independence, Missouri (Doctrine and Covenants 57:3; 84:1-4). When this prophecy failed, Joseph Smith claimed it was due to God's enemies (Doctrine and Covenants 124:51). 1.The city of God for those who overcome the trials of life (Revelation 3:12). John described this city "coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband" (Revelation 21:2). This happens after the old heaven and earth have passed away (Revelation 21:1). 2.Also known in the pre-existence as the archangel Michael or the Ancient of Days (Doctrine and Covenants 27:11; 138:38). According to Joseph Smith, Adam took part in creating Earth and occupies a position of authority next to Jesus Christ (Joseph F. Smith, Teaching of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 158). 2.The first human created by God, Adam was made of the dust of the ground and God breathed life into him(Genesis 2:7). Adam never has been an angel or existed prior to his creation in the Garden of Eden. 3.Joseph Smith taught that angels "are resurrected personages, having bodies of flesh and bones." In order to tell if an angel is of God one should offer to shake hands. "If he be an angel he will do so, and you will feel his hand" (Doctrine and Covenants 129:1, 4-5). 3. Messengers of God who are spirits (Psalm 104:4). Spirits do no have flesh and bone (Luke 24:39).

I have read both repeatedly and studied both for years. I have examined many claims of conflicts. I have never found anything I considered a conflict. . I HAVE found quite a number of significant conflicts between the doctrines of many Christian denominations and the Bible.

This is a direct quote from Ruth Tucker, author of ANOTHER GOSPEL, and my professor on Cults and Heresies at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School: "The is nothing intrinsically heretical about the Book of Mormon by itself. It contains a lot of long boring stories of migrations in bad immitation King James English, and on several occassions it repeats erros in translation verbatim as per the King James. It also makes claims contrary to the entire archaeological record of Pre-Columbian America. But doctrinally, the narrative makes no statements that are in and of themselves contrary to the Gospel or the fundamental tenets of Christianity. The heretical teachings of the LDS are found in Doctrines and Covenants, and The Pearl of Great Price ... and in some of the various "prophecies" made by Joseph Smith, Brigham Young, and their successors."

What a great debate. The fact that people spend so much time arguing whether LDS is Christianity is itself evidence it is not. http://www.carm.org/religious-movements/mormonism/mormon-beliefs-are-they-christian This web site provides a good resource to those who are in doubt.

Q: Does the Book of Mormon contradict the Bible? A: Yes. http://www.irr.org/mit/bom-bible.html http://www.utlm.org/onlineresources/bibleandbomcontradictions.htm http://ldsinfo.tripod.com/contradict.htm http://www.apologeticspress.org/articles/1777 Q: If so, how can it be said to be inspired by God? A: Clearly it can't. The contradictions discredit and disqualify it as a divinely inspired work.

Yes, it does. But, you see the Bible was written and interpreted and handed down verbally and so it has had errors creap into it. The book of mormon was written by Joseph Smith who had it given to him on golden tablets by God himself. At least that is what mormons believe. I believe the Bible is the most accurate book of God's message to us.

Truthfully, it's really difficult to believe what texts are truthfully right. Personally, I believe it's best to leave faith with the matters of the heart, and use the 'holy' texts as guidelines, to help you lead a kind and fruitful life in a not so friendly world. I am a Christian and I follow God, Christ, Mary, Joseph, the angels, you name it. :P . So please don't take me too unkindly.

the book of mormon was written to support the mormon beliefs. God's identity is unknown. Therefore, anyone can say God said to do anything. God told me to sign on this site and witness for Him. Who can say that's true or not? No one. Well, God said. The word needs to be specific in order to be understood. More than likely, it is just a miss spelling...and the book of mormon was really inspired by GOLD! .
