    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

George Mikan, a center for the Minneapolis Lakers, was the first NBA player to be inducted in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. He was inducted in 1959, the hall of fame's inaugural year. Three other players were inducted that year, but George Mikan was the only NBA player.
