  • "Holy water sprinkler" is just one of the names given to an ordinary mace, from its resemblance to a real sprinkler, or aspercillum, used in the church. The mace and the aspergillum can both be described as being a rod or staff with a bulbous head. Or a stick with a ball on the end. There is no one particular style of mace that is a Holy Water Sprinkler. Either one may have various projections, attachments, flanges, incisions , etc as decoration and to make it more effective, holding more water and spreading it wider in the one case, causing more damage and making hurt more in t'other. The main difference is in the intent of the user. The aspergillum is used to send people to heaven, the mace is used to send them to hell.
