My husband and I are divorcing, he wants a share of the real estate I purchased prior to our marriage, but does not want to help pay the large credit card debts he ran up in my name. What should I do?

    Of course he does. That benefits him. That does NOT mean you need to agree to it. This is what your lawyer is for. Do not agree to ANYTHING that is not in *your* best interests.

    Whether or not he has a right to your property depends on whether you live in a community property state. Figure out what YOU want, then figure out with your lawyer what you HAVE to do, and then work on putting together a proposal.
