Well, I know that they have dark skin because they originated in Africa. Since it's much hotter there then other parts of the world, their dark skin was to protect themselves from gettin sun burned. Maybe their hair works the same way..like it tolerates heat better.

ConorD, don't feel badly about asking this question I don't think it's a stupid or negative question. Many people at one time or another, especially in their early growing-up days have asked this question or wondered about this. If someone don't know or understand something they have all right to ask for an explanation or clarification.

I always wonder the same thing all the other race have nice hair . except the africans , but not all blacks have bad hair i have seen some indians and their skin colour is just as black as the africans only their features and their hair is different. I know that with the african it in their DNA . But the question is why do they have to get that DNA couldnt they have gotten black skin but still get good hair . why is it that they are the only race with that hair .they have the worst hair kinky and hard to mentain. but i think they have the best colour .

You are really asking why some people have curly hair and some have straight. It is all about the cross section of the hair shaft. A straight hair when cut across and looking at the cut end, under a microscope, is a circle. The cross section of a curly hair is an oval. The flatter the oval the curlier the hair. Why some people of African descent have curly hair is simply a DNA issue as selected by evolution. (No please don't start). Or simply that it started that way and there has never been a DNA mutation to the straight hair.

we have spiral hair because we are in tune with nature. everything in the solar system spirals all planets etc, even our dna structure spirals. straight hair is dead without life, that is why it is so limp. our hair grows toward the sun like all living things in nature trees,plants etc likewise our hair also grows towards the sun. But at the end of the day hair is hair straight, curly, kinky once it is serving its purpose.

Why are [enter race's] eyes a different shape then mine? why are [enter race] skin lighter/darker than min? If you look in a history book there is a good chance you'll see that people migrated from one place to another and settled in certain parts of the world. Euopeans tended to, from what I learned, have lgither skin because they didn't need protection form the sun, hence the lighter hair color to. Asians, and I don't quite believe this, have certain eye shapes (typically hood eyes which many africans and people of black hertiage have) according to wear the sun was. People in hotter areas had darker hair. South Africans had darker skin to protect themselves from the sun as well as curly hair to protect their head (thikn about the equator). Now days, you can find black people with striaght or loose curly/wavy hair (and even a long time ago you could still find different hair on black people, including in Africa, their hair type varies). Each trait that someone has comes from their ancestors and the wya they coped with the enviornment they were in. In the end, it doesn't really matter. Features are features and they are all beautiful.

Have know shame in asking such a question. The fact is That Homo Sapiens Sapiens(modern humans) left out of Africa about 50,000 years ago. This was during the Ice Age. Having to adopt to differnt climatical enviroments Man changed to better survive. Hair changed along with skin color and othe features. The body type that allowed man to thrive in Africa was detrimental to him in Europe and Asia during the Ice Age.Africans hair is differnt from many other people in the worlds due to the fact they are decendant from peoples who never left Africa. Some speculate the original man had straight hair while in Africa and later evolved to coarse or kinky to adapt. Others say man had coarse or kinky hair and later developed staright hair in the colder climates. I lean towards man having had staright hair originaly. I say this only due to the fact all lesser primates have straight hair and that tightly curled or kinky hair lacks a certain chemical(or an lesser amount) that is present in straight hair. I cannot name this chemical but learned of it from a episode of the "View"(yes Barbara Walters). Geniticaly/biologicaly it is easier to lose something than to create it.ie: Man left Africa highly pigmented then later lost his pignmentation to adapt. This is a theory of mine yet however the basis of it is accurate.

because black peoples hair is special.black peoples hair is called 9 ether because its shaped as the number 9 which means its in the direction of the sun and wehn the suns rays hits the kinky hair the hair works like tentacles and obsorbs the suns energy and it helps the bone marrow it gives energy for the spirit thats why black people can stay in the sun for a long time.white peoples hair is shaped in the number 6 and its pointing away from the sun and thats why white people have to stayu away from the sun.and i hate when people say that black people came from a white person going to africa and gets tanned.look at all these white people out here with tannes they look stupid as hell.black people was here first and im not being rascist but white people were created adam and eve wernt the first people on earth but they were the first white people on earth yacob created whites look him up.

Different races have differend shaped strands of hair. Asian have oval shaped strands, Caucasians have round shaped strands and black people have a different shape. This makes it easier to curl. This is all due to genetics and ancestry. My son, who is half black, half white has a combination of the two so his hair is not as curly as his fathers, or as course but is much much curlier than mine and thicker.

um, i agree with alot of what u said up until the comment u made about adam and eve, um a black woman , and am a born again Christian. i take the written Word of God as the absolute truth, so for u to say Adam and Eve were the first white people on earth, just erased the validity in ur other statements!!!! the cradle of civilization was infact scientifically proven to have been in africa, more accurately in ethiopia. the Garden of Eden spoken about in the Bible is said to be in Africa as well, although not, specifically known exactly where in africa. SO.... how does this make Adam and Eve white in the first place???? u must do ur research first before making wayward statements. just recently scientists had to admit that all people's ancestry on God's green earth can be traced back to africa. and to take it further, one of the tribes of Israel in the Bible was said to be cursed because they beheld their father naked, and in those days, this was a sin. God cursed or punished that tribe, and it is believed that black, whether african or afro american directly descended from this tribe. not saying that this neccessarily means our hair is a curse, but it could encompass alot of the trials thruout history that blacks have endured. God loves us jus the same, and we are stronger for what weve endured. in any culture, dark skin and afro features are looked down upon!!! look it up, hispanics, blacks, etc, if ur darker skinned or have ethnic features, such as hair and nose and other things, u continued to be discrimminated against. its a shame and ironic , cuz notice how all races seem to gravitate toward being more like us in many ways. the tans, the lips, the cheekbones, the butts, the athleticism, the culture, the rhythm, the dancing, the voices, and yes,,,,, even the hair stlyes. finer softer hair cant get much done to it... the list goes on and on. i do not have anything against the other races cuz God knows i am mixed with a variety of things, and have so much diversity in my fam, but i am jus tryna point out how without blacks, and "our" hair, there would be NO other race, so embrace ur blackness, cuz others want to be like us. our influence on culture, in all countries is unprecedented, from the dances that the hispanics do, to the advances in modern meds, we do not learn anything about these things in school, however if u do any research at all, u will see that there are alot of things we do not get credit for. if u are reading this, do me a favor and type in "what if there were no black people" and see ALL the things blacks were responsible for, and this doesnt even scratch the surface.... love u all, and GOD BLESS
