    Great Answer

    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

On One Hand: It is Possible to Take Viagra with Hypertension

A man who has hypertension (high blood pressure) may be able to take Viagra (sildenafil citrate), but the drug's manufacturer, Pfizer Inc., reports that a man with hypertension may start on a lowered dose.

On the Other: There Are Risks

There are risks for a man who is being treated for high blood pressure and who takes Viagra. The Mayo Clinic reports that blood pressure may drop, leading to symptoms including blurry vision, feeling confused, dizzy, faint or lightheaded, sweating and feeling tired or weak.

    Bottom Line

A man with high blood pressure may take Viagra, but he should discuss the risks and a safe dose with his doctor ahead of time. Viagra should not be taken by a man who is also taking nitrates to treat chest pain, according to Pfizer Inc.
