Help answer this question below.
While many women have recently started taking prenatal vitamins to encourage hair growth, there is no evidence to support the premise that prenatal vitamins help hair grow. The reason hair growth is associated with prenatal vitamins could be because pregnant women often experience faster hair growth as well as healthier, shinier hair-- but this could be due to other factors related to pregnancy, not prenatal vitamins.
Prenatal vitamins weren't meant to be taken to encourage hair growth; in fact, the high iron content in prenatal vitamins could make you constipated. Some women who aren't pregnant and take prenatal vitamins experience nausea and vomiting. However, all of these symptoms should go away when you stop taking the vitamins.
Amino acids, vitamin-B and folic acid are all great vitamins to take for hair growth, and they won't leave you constipated or nauseous. If you insist on taking prenatal vitamins, only take them for a short period of time. You'll find that eating a diet rich in beta-carotene (found in yellow and green fruits and veggies) is a healthier and better way to promote healthy hair.
