Why do some people think it's good that only 50% of the working population pay income taxes?

• As I stated. I knew I had the % incorrect. But the idea is still about the same. They pay the most because they have the most of the $$$$. Do I think we should raise taxes on the "rich" no I do not. But do not whine at me saying the poor do not pay their fair share. If the big executive would pay the regular guy a living wage. Instead of $7.00 and give him 4 hr a day. The regular guy would have to pay in and would not qualify for things like food stamps etc. But I feel that if the person is working. The is it not the worker that is truly recieving that welfare. It is the CEO, that is having his billion dollar bonus subsidized with the welfare him employees are recieving. I think we need the Fair Tax. It would take the game away from both sides.

  Top 5% pay 57% taxes and have 33% of the income
  Top 10% pay 68% taxes and have 44% of the income
  Top 25% pay 85% taxes and have 66% of the income.
  
  Bottom 50% pay 3% and have 13% of the income.
